Tutor.com Delivers More than 10,000 New Hampshire Sessions Through NHED Partnership

Unlimited Academic Support Benefits Students in Grades 4 Through 12, Plus Adult Learners

NEW YORK, March 4, 2024 /— Tutor.com, one of the world's largest and most innovative online tutoring organizations, announced that it had served 11,592 sessions through its partnership with the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED).

Through this program—which launched in fall 2022 serving grades 6–12 and recently expanded to serve grades 4–5 and adult learners—students can access 24/7 expert tutoring in 209 subjects, along with drop-off writing review, self-paced test prep from The Princeton Review®, and other academic supports. Unlimited access to these resources is available for public, non-public, charter, Education Freedom Account, and home education students at no cost to them.

Students’ use of the program reflects where they are struggling—and seeking to grow—and also at what points in the school year they focus on particular topics. For instance, algebra (levels I and II) has been the most popular subject since the program launched. This is consistent with broad K–12 developments that Tutor.com has seen in recent years. The company’s Algebra Trends white paper from last year showed consistent year-over-year growth in students’ algebra tutoring needs.

Following algebra, the next-most popular subjects were also in math topics: middle school math and geometry. Drop-off writing review followed.

Sixth-graders making the transition to middle school are the highest-using cohort of students, at a rate 43 percent greater than the second-highest cohort for utilization, eleventh-graders. High school juniors are in good company; students in grades eight, twelve, and seven (in that order) utilize the program nearly as much as eleventh-graders.

The most popular month for tutoring to date was February, followed by January 2024 and then November 2023.

In addition to pursuing personalized tutoring, students also log in to Tutor.com to access self-paced resources, including the program’s popular SAT®/ACT® test prep from The Princeton Review. February, followed by March, had the highest rates of student sessions with these resources—likely as learners prepared to take the March SAT. This year, those test prep resources have been updated for the digital SAT, and the online classroom in which tutoring sessions take place features a Desmos® graphing calculator, the same tool students use on the new SAT.

To date, top users include students at Virtual Learning Academy Charter School, Windham, Bedford, Berlin, and Dover—names that also appeared on the leaderboard in Tutor.com’s utilization competitions last spring and this fall. (Berlin students won an ice cream party in the spring for high program utilization, and Birches Academy students—the winners of this fall’s pizza party—had a 55 percent increase in utilization.)

Increased utilization of the program has gained a momentum of its own, with rates of use accelerating as students become familiar with and see the impact of on-demand support.
